In the heart of Constantine, Cornwall, we’re working on a major extension for an architect’s stunning farmhouse. This project isn’t just about adding space, it’s about blending modern technology with traditional craftsmanship.
This project is for Bernard from Koha Architects in Penryn. After we started working with him on a full renovation of a Victorian Home in Falmouth, he invited us to help with the renovation of his own home.
With its classic Cornish stone construction, this farmhouse has incredible character. Our role as trusted electricians in Cornwall is to bring it into the modern age without compromising its charm. Working alongside an architect who truly values design has made this project something special.
Bespoke Electrical & Lighting Design
We’re handling all the electrical work, including a state-of-the-art lighting design to enhance both the functionality and aesthetic of the home. Every detail is being considered to complement the character of the property while integrating cutting-edge solutions.
MVHR: A Smart Ventilation Solution
One unique challenge in this project was the kitchen ventilation. Due to the structure of the home, achieving the desired extraction wasn’t feasible. Instead, the client opted for a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system—an innovative solution that provides continuous fresh air, removes stale air, and recovers heat in the process. This is a perfect example of how MVHR can solve ventilation issues beyond just energy efficiency.
Future-Proofing with Renewables
There’s potential for integrating solar PV (solar panels) and battery storage into the project, ensuring the home is not only beautifully designed but also future-ready. This installation could optimise the land around the property for the solar panels. This would make for a more aesthetically pleasing solution, keeping the house solar panel-free!
